Super Saturday 14 Draws Stylish Shoppers Committed to the Cause

Super Saturday continues to be one of summer’s hottest events. And the sizzling temperature has got nothing on the  stylish attendees, who opt to shop ’til they drop in Water Mill instead of lounging poolside at their posh pads. This year Kelly Ripa joined actress Emma Roberts, Donna Karan, Ariel Foxman, and InStyle in hosting the 14th annual outdoor designer garage sale to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

Over 200 designers, including  Cut 25, DKNY, Dyson, Jimmy Choo, Piperlime.com, Ralph Lauren, Smythson, Theory, Tucker, Zimmermann, participated in this year’s festivities as did stylist Rachel Zoe, who once again hosted the incredible “Designers A to Zoe,” booth. Zoe browsed the tables with her sister, hubby and father; she left baby Skyler at home in the air conditioning. Zoe tried on several pairs of Ralph Lauren glasses, which were all priced at  just $10. “Do you like these for optical?,” she asked noone in particular of an oversized tortoise frame.  Gayle King was equally pleased with the RL offerings–she scooped up two red cashmere sweaters for $100 each.

Interestingly enough the Dyson tent was the first to sell out. Its famous Vacuum Cleaners and Air Multipliers caused a feeding frenzy among guests who we can’t quite imagine doing housework. Perhaps model Karlie Kloss is to blame for the quick liquidation. “I bought eight things at Dyson and I’m not exactly sure why,” she said after moving on to peruse the LeSportsac table.  Jimmy Choo was instantly emptied as well, though Lisa Rinna somehow managed to find four pairs in her size at days end. “How lucky am I?,” she exclaimed. Christy Turlington Burns avoided the frenetic table clamoring and instead did arts & crafts with her children in the Urban Zen tent.

QVC brought the insider action nationwide with a live afternoon broadcast from the event. QVC Presents Super Saturday Live gave viewers a chance to purhcase discounted products and make a difference; all net proceeds benefited OCRF.

Abigail Breslin, who was dressed in a white Rag & Bone dress,  was thrilled with her first Super Saturday experience. “This is amazing! Everyone loves to shop and it’s supporting an amazing organization,” she said. “Even my dad doesn’t mind us shopping today!” Those sentiments were apparently shared by the hundreds of magnanimous attendees. The event raised over $3.5 million to be donated to OCRF.
